How it Improved my Writing
One of my life’s biggest desires is to be an English writer. As I am not a native speaker so learning writing was a difficult task. I always feel insecure about writing, the lack of missing the spark or fear of grammatical mistakes always holds me back. At the beginning of 2022, I finally decided to improve my writing skills and came across various courses including Udemy’s Writing with confidence.
I was hesitant to enroll at first but after reading several reviews and previewing a few videos I decided to give it a go. I was hooked from the first video. I always make notes of every lecture I take, so naturally, I was making notes while taking lectures which helps a lot to memories. It took me more than 6 days to complete this course. During this time I’ve written more articles, assignments, and personal activities than I’ve ever written before. The tips and techniques shared by the lecturer helped to sharpen my writing skills. Now I feel more confident about my writing, but it still requires a lot of practice and consistency to improve over time.

Clare Lynch is an amazing teacher, her wit and sense of humor are some of the reasons you will love this course. Clare delivers what she promises, confidence. She knows her methods inside out. In the end, her instruction is memorable, and that makes me feel ready for work.

There are a few key techniques taught by Clare that resonate with me. One of the techniques is “Don’t Get it Right, Get it Written’ which means you don’t need to be perfect when you write your first draft. As writers, we always aim for perfection but she explains how real magic happens when we Rewrite our writing. She advised dividing the attention to a piece of writing by the following:
- 20% Research
- 5% Planning and Ordering
- 15% Writing
- 50% Rewriting
- 10% Proofreading
As you can see from the above structure how she gave 50% importance to the rewriting procedure, which change my way of writing and makes me more confident.
Personal Activity, Assignments & Feedback
Learning online is always tricky for some people, it feels boring up to an extent. Most of the time you feel losing touch with the course itself. One of the key points of learning with Udemy is the inclusion of Personal Activities, Assignments, and Feedback from fellow students. Though the course is divided into several sections and every section have its own set of Assignment and personal activities. Assignments are the essential parts of moving forward with the course which is very easy to submit during your course. Personal Activities are the ones you will assign and will do in your free time after taking that particular lecture but they are not essential for moving forward. You can also get feedback on your submitted assignments from fellow students, which works vise versa.

But this is one of the best-paid courses available. You will learn a lot of techniques and I am hoping that it will sharpen your writing skills and will make you more confident.
